The purpose of this living document is:
- To help DSS be an equitable and inclusive section
- Includes ensuring our committees and events are equitable and inclusive
- To provide resources to DSS members to improve their workplaces/professional practices to be more equitable and inclusive
- To guide our work in the DSS but also help members with their individual and daily professional practices and in their workplaces
- Initially, to gather resources relevant to EDI related to digital scholarship (broadly construed). This work will lead us to a second phase in which we will create a more curated list (more usable) to guide our section and specific work. This longer list will remain available to others.
[For Reference the DSS operates under the following Community Agreements: tiny.cc/dss-agreements (accessible version available.)]
The purpose of this toolkit is to help the ACRL Digital Scholarship Section (DSS), including its volunteers and its members, build equitable and inclusive practices into their professional work, whether that is with DSS committees and forums or in their general work in digital scholarship.
The DSS Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Committee also created this toolkit to be a living document. We do not expect it to stay stagnant but instead hope to grow it as more and better resources become available. We welcome suggestions for the toolkit.
Note that we do not see this as a comprehensive toolkit. There are many resources out there; we hope to highlight those that best meet the needs of the DSS community. We also hope to work with other similar efforts to support labor already undertaken by our peers and grow all of these efforts in a way that best increases equity and diversity for all professionals in our field.
